PRISONER OF TIME 1 © 2007

I like discreet smiles,

Those that appear without fanfare,

In excess they become senseless,

Losing their naturalness, their genuineness.

A discreet smile carries mystery,

A sincerity that needs no stage,

It is an expression that speaks softly,

But says much more than it seems.

When forced or exaggerated,

The smile loses its essence,

Becoming just an empty gesture,

Without the soul that should guide it.

I prefer the subtlety of a smile

That springs forth spontaneously, almost shy,

For it is in that smile that I find truth,

The purity that is not forced, that is not invented.

I like smiles that arise

From small, yet meaningful moments,

Where joy is subtle but deep,

And simplicity reveals what is most beautiful.
