GREAT SOUL IN MY COUNTRY 2 © 2008

I am spilling into an empty glass,

With the reflection of others fading on my face,

I fall to the ground, enveloped in despair,

I cannot be myself, without wearing a sombre veil.

Disguising my purity, I have become an actor,

Professional on the stage of life, I hide from pain,

Deceiving myself with happiness, in a well-decorated role,

But deep down, I know I am just a silent heart.

Each smile I muster is part of a scene,

But the truth behind is always so small,

I live in disguise, in a constant performance,

And what remains is the emptiness of illusion.
