GREAT SOUL IN MY COUNTRY 2 © 2008

I am spilling into a glass,

Where the reflections of others fade,

On the face of my own,

I fall to the ground, trapped by sorrow,

I cannot be myself, without hiding what I carry.

I wear a veil that masks my purity,

I have become a professional actor,

Deceiving myself with the falsehood I created,

Living on a stage where the self is lost,

And in the illusion of the role, my truth has faded.

I feel the weight of the disguise, the exhaustion consuming,

But I continue in the play, unable to leave,

Each day a new mask, a new lie,

And deep down, I am just a shadow of who I once was.
