A CRY FOR FREEDOM © 2008

The content can hurt the eyes

With a mere scratch,

For in the subtext, like reefs,

Hides the complex intent.

By summarizing the headings,

The depth of vision is lost,

And the words, like shortcuts,

Become complicated in their construction.

What is said, in apparent clarity,

Carries weight that the eye cannot see,

For in its essence, there is a hardness,

That challenges the heart to believe.

Not everything that seems simple is so,

And what wounds, sometimes, is the knowing,

That the truths that touch us upright,

Are the ones hardest to understand.
