A CRY FOR FREEDOM © 2008

I would like to be a painter

So that tears on the canvas would have colour,

And each nuance would reveal the pain

In brushstrokes of a deep, loving sentiment.

I would like to be a musician

So that notes of love would echo with sound,

And that each chord, played with affection,

Would be the melody that heals and soothes the world.

I would like to be a singer

To quell the longing that cries within in pain,

And that each verse, sung with passion,

Would be a balm for the heart and loneliness.

But I am only a poet,

With words that spring from the heart,

Painting, singing, touching the soul,

The feelings that cannot fit into any other expression.

Each verse is a painting,

Each rhyme, a song,

And in the silence of the letters, I find the reason,

To live and to love, in an eternal prayer.
