A CRY FOR FREEDOM © 2008

Those who wish to know the truth

And discern its falsehood,

Put themselves on alert,

Always ready, with the soul awake,

To flee when the trumpet sounds,

As if truth were a certain threat.

But in the escape, what is lost, after all?

Is the truth really so lethal?

Or is it the fear of facing the mirror,

Of seeing in the reflection one's own counsel,

That makes us fear what is real,

Preferring to live in an unreal world?

Truth, at times, is painful, it's true,

But in its purity, one finds the right.

And even if falsehood disguises itself,

In the end, it is the truth that prevails,

And only it frees us from the uncertain yoke,

Revealing the path to follow, awake.
