REFLECTIONS © 2011

Don’t delude yourself about who you want to be,

For the world spins without asking you,

And the political landscape, without knowing you,

Charts the path you will have to go through.

Your dreams, so high, so pure,

May collide with the cold reality,

Where desires become obscure

And freedom is a shadow of will.

You will want to be what your heart commands,

But the system, with its webs, will say more,

And who you are, in this small plot,

Will be shaped by unequal powers.

But don’t lose all hope,

Even in the shadow, there’s room for change.
