LETTERS TO DESTINY © 2012
Lord, just as in controlled environments,
Water and fire can coexist,
In harmony, without destroying each other,
Do we not, humanity, also have the capacity
To learn to coexist despite adversity?
Perhaps the secret lies in Your wisdom,
Which teaches that opposing forces can find balance,
That even in the deepest conflicts
There is potential to transform us.
We, humans, so fragile and imperfect,
Can learn from fire and water,
That, under Your divine hand, are not enemies,
But elements that together create something that cradles.
If fire can warm without consuming,
And water can refresh without extinguishing,
Then perhaps, in our differences,
We can learn to love and respect.
Lord, grant us the strength to understand
That adversity need not be destruction,
But an invitation to harmony,
So that, like fire and water, we may find our union.
