LETTERS TO DESTINY © 2012
I would love to see you applaud the beggars,
Those who walk in invisible streets,
Where eyes divert and hearts grow silent,
While souls remain sensitive.
I would love to hear an emotional speech,
That thanks for their existence,
As if poverty were a mirror
Of our own unconsciousness.
But not for the suffering they bear,
Nor for the hands stretched to the wind,
But because, in their silence,
They reveal what’s lacking in our understanding.
To thank them for reminding us
That wealth isn’t found in gold,
But in the compassion we deny
To those living in a world so cold.
To applaud the beggars,
Not for the fate they’ve been given,
But for being a reflection of society,
That left them behind, forsaken.
Yes, I would love to see you,
With sincere tears and attentive voices,
Acknowledging that in their fragility,
Lies the cure for our absent choices.
