LETTERS TO DESTINY © 2012

Nothing in life is guaranteed,

Everything is a breath in the wind of time,

Not even death belongs to you,

For even it is in the hands of a deep and slow mystery.

We live as if we control destiny,

As if we have the power to decide the end,

But what escapes us is that not even the last door

Is under our command, or so it seems.

Life is a gift, fragile and unpredictable,

Given to us without a promise of duration,

And death, which many fear and await,

Is merely a part of a greater revelation.

So do not cling to the idea of control,

Nor to the certainty of what comes next,

For life and death are mysteries,

That unfold beyond us.

Live with humility and surrender,

Knowing that what you have is now,

And that, in the end, only God knows

What awaits us with each dawn.
