LINES OF THOUGHT © 2013

What separates us from silence

Are syllables, words,

Fragile bridges we cast into the wind,

To give form to our souls.

Between the silence and the voice that emerges,

There is a universe of hidden meaning,

Words that dance in peace

And others that cut like a stifled scream.

It is in words that we try to exist,

That sometimes we wish to silence the quiet,

But it is in silence that we can hear

What the soul has to reveal.

Thus, we speak, but we also listen,

Between syllables and empty spaces,

For what separates us, in the end,

Is the same that unites us in our challenges.
