LINES OF THOUGHT © 2013

Despite being human, bold and often proud,

And many times in this world, thinking me unbowed,

There lies within me a side few can see,

A profound silence where humility can be.

In the words I cast, I may lose myself in pride,

But deep within, I hold the purest truth inside.

In the stillness of nights, in solitary thought,

I am small before life, fragile, and caught.

The boldness I show is a fleeting disguise,

For deep down I know I’m dust that time defies.

And in each breath, in the modesty of the soul,

I find the humility that brings me back to whole.
