LINES OF THOUGHT © 2013
A man without occupation, becomes a stray dog without dignity,
Lost in time, aimless, without clarity.
Without work that gives him purpose and meaning,
He wanders through the streets of life, unmotivated, waning.
Occupation is more than sustenance or routine,
It is the reason why the soul shines bright and keen.
It shapes character, gives form to the being,
Without it, a man ceases to be truly seeing.
Like a dog without an owner, with no place to call home,
The man without occupation feels he must roam.
Dignity is wounded, the spirit loses ground,
And emptiness takes over, where hope once was found.
But with work, whatever it may be,
The man rises up, reclaims his energy.
Occupation gives him purpose, strength, and direction,
Restoring his dignity, renewing his mission.
