LINES OF THOUGHT © 2016
Such a love, you've never lived,
What you shared was merely a glimmer,
A faint spark barely perceived,
While the true fire, in a dormant volcano, grew.
The incandescent lava, silent,
Bubbles in the depths, dangerous.
It warms the innards of the secret universe,
The heart, the center of all, discreet.
Still beating slow, in rhythmic measure,
Clearing the arteries, in its journey for treasure.
The tentacles of desire stretch and prepare,
For the uncertain moment, that the lovers did not dare.
And then, in an explosive and cruel gesture,
The lava erupts, burning like a searing pleasure.
It consumes everything in its destructive rage,
Devouring the lovers, in its primal stage.
For such a love, intense and voracious,
Knows no limits, nor ever is gracious.
And in its fire, burning and unyielding,
It leaves behind only ashes and longing.
